PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

A plain-English account of what data Travis Consulting collects, why, and how long we hold it. It also covers your rights under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Effective: May 13, 2026 · Last updated: October 15, 2026

1. Who this policy is for

This policy applies to Travis Consulting (the “firm”, “we”). Travis Consulting is a sole proprietorship registered with the British Columbia Registry. Travis Schindel operates it from North Vancouver, BC. The policy covers personal information we collect through travisconsult.com. It also covers the consulting engagements we run, and the email exchanges around both.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to do the work you’ve asked us to do. In practice that means:

  • Email address, when you request a downloadable resource from /resources, or when you email us directly.
  • Name, organization, work email, sector, team size, and your stated workflow bottleneck. We collect these when you submit the AI Readiness Diagnostic at travisconsult.com/contact.
  • Anything else you choose to share in an email or call: the content of your message itself.
  • Limited technical data: aggregated, anonymous page-view counts via Vercel Analytics. This is first-party and cookie-less, and it does not try to identify individual visitors.

We do not use third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or behaviour analytics. We do not run a CRM. We do not check submitted emails against external databases.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not set any cookies on this site. Vercel Analytics is cookie-less. It does not store an identifier in your browser and does not try to identify individual visitors. If we introduce any cookie in the future, this section will be updated before it is enabled.

3. Why we collect it

Personal information collected through this site is used only to:

  • Reply to your message and assess whether there’s a fit for an engagement.
  • Send you the specific resource you requested, and follow up about it.
  • Scope and deliver a consulting engagement once one is agreed under a separate written contract.
  • Send occasional updates relevant to the work (for example, when a resource you downloaded has a new edition). You can unsubscribe from these at any time by replying “unsubscribe”.

4. Where your data lives

Information you submit through the site is held on the following systems:

  • Vercel (web hosting and serverless functions). The site and the form-submission endpoint run on Vercel infrastructure. Form submissions are written to Vercel’s function logs. Vercel keeps those logs for its standard retention period.
  • Google Workspace (Canadian-residency option enabled). Email sent to connect@travisconsult.com goes to a Google Workspace mailbox. We use the Canadian-resident configuration where Google offers it.

Active consulting engagements carry extra commitments on where client data lives. Those are made under a separate written agreement. See our Data Handling for Engagements page for the operational specifics.

5. How long we keep it

Retention periods are:

  • Diagnostic submissions and lead-magnet requests: 24 months from submission. Or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
  • Email correspondence (general inquiries): 24 months from the last reply. Then deleted, unless an engagement was agreed.
  • Engagement-related records: kept for the length of the engagement. After that, for as long as Canadian tax and accounting law requires. The Canada Revenue Agency requires business records to be kept for six years. That runs from the end of the last tax year they relate to. We keep invoicing records for seven years as a buffer, and working papers for less. The specifics for each engagement are set out in the signed agreement.

6. Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent, license, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. The only entities with incidental access are:

  • Vercel (infrastructure provider for the website and serverless functions),
  • Google (Google Workspace for email and calendar),
  • Canadian government authorities, if and only if required by a valid legal order.

Consulting engagements may use sub-processors, for example LLM providers chosen during a workflow build. We disclose any of these in writing before the engagement begins. You have the right to require different tooling. See Data Handling for Engagements.

7. Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you.
  • Request a copy of that information.
  • Request correction of any information that’s inaccurate.
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to any legal-retention obligations.
  • Withdraw consent for any use, including unsubscribing from email updates.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we’ve mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email connect@travisconsult.com with the subject line Privacy request. We’ll acknowledge within 5 business days and give a full response within 30 calendar days, the timeline PIPEDA specifies.

8. Children

The services on this site are not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Indigenous data principles

For engagements involving Indigenous organizations, data handling also follows OCAP® principles where they apply. OCAP® stands for Ownership, Control, Access, Possession. We work with copies, not transfers, by default. Tool selection is limited to Canadian-resident or on-premise options. We document any arrangement in writing. The partnering Nation’s or organization’s governance bodies can review it. See Data Handling for Engagements for specifics.

OCAP® is a registered trademark of the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC). We use the term to show good-faith adherence to the OCAP® principles. It does not imply endorsement, accreditation, or partnership with the FNIGC.

10. Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if our practices change. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page. Where you’ve given us an email address, we’ll also email you directly at least 30 days before they take effect.

11. Contact

For any privacy question, request, or complaint: connect@travisconsult.com. Mail can be addressed to Travis Consulting, North Vancouver, BC, Canada. The specific mailing address is provided on request.

This policy is written in plain English to be readable. It is not a substitute for a written agreement between us on a specific engagement. Engagement-specific terms are governed by a separate signed contract.
