# Travis Consulting

**Practical AI consulting and training.**

Practical AI consulting, training, and workflow support for organizations that want useful results and a team that can carry the work forward. Based in North Vancouver, BC; working with organizations across Canada.

## Make more time for the work that matters.

I help organizations use AI to reduce repetitive work, train their teams, and make informed choices about tools. I start with the work your people already do and build a plan your team can keep using.

- **Based in:** North Vancouver, BC
- **Working with:** Businesses, schools, public organizations, financial services teams, and Northern and Indigenous organizations
- **Engagements:** A focused assessment, team training, or longer implementation support

## What changes

- **Spend less time on repeat tasks.** Find repetitive drafting, data entry, and reporting work that may be easier with the tools you already have.
- **Help your team use AI with confidence.** People practice on tasks from their own roles, with clear guidance on what information they can use and how to check the results.
- **Choose a practical next step.** Get a clear view of which workflows to improve, which tools fit your needs, and how to measure progress.

## Who I work with

Different organizations face different questions. The work starts with your goals, constraints, and the people who will use the result.

- **Small business and mid-market**: Reduce time spent on drafting, intake, reporting, and other repeat work across operations, finance, HR, and customer service.
- **Schools and education teams**: Build practical AI skills, review administrative workflows, and develop clear guidance for staff and students.
- **Public organizations**: Plan AI pilots and training with procurement, privacy, records, and governance requirements in view.
- **Northern and Indigenous organizations**: Work within your governance, infrastructure, language, and capacity needs. Build local skills before choosing tools.
- **Financial services and investment teams**: Explore ways to review document-heavy work while keeping accuracy, traceability, and oversight central.

## Why now

19.2% of Canadian businesses used AI to produce goods or deliver services in the year to mid-2026, triple the share two years earlier (Statistics Canada, Canadian Survey on Business Conditions, Q2 2026). Ottawa is aiming for 60% by 2034 under the AI for All national strategy. The work between today and that target isn't a tools gap. It's the gap between intention and Monday morning. Full detail at [/why-now](/why-now).

## Start with an AI Readiness Assessment

In two weeks, we'll look at your team's current AI skills, review workflows, and identify useful next steps. You'll receive a practical 90-day roadmap designed around your organization.

- A snapshot of current skills
- A review of workflows with potential to save time
- A shortlist of tools that fit your systems and requirements
- A 90-day implementation plan
- A read-out session for your leadership team

## Training built around your team's work

If your organization already uses Microsoft 365 Copilot or Claude, training can help people use more of the tools they have. Sessions are shaped around your team's tasks, with hands-on practice and a way to measure progress.

## A clear path from assessment to action

1. **Assess** (2 weeks, fixed scope): Understand your team's skills, tools, and workflows. Choose a useful place to begin.
2. **Design** (4–12 weeks, per workflow): Select a small number of workflows and improve them with your team. Choose tools that fit your needs, budget, and risk requirements.
3. **Build and hand over** (internal champion, built to leave): Work alongside a person on your team who can maintain and improve the result. Document the process and train the people who will use it.

## Practical experience, independent advice

I'm Travis Schindel. My work draws on two decades of experience across Indigenous engagement, government, mining, telecommunications, and infrastructure in Northern Canada, followed by hands-on enterprise AI work.

I bring an operator's perspective to AI: understand the setting, work within its constraints, and make sure the people doing the work can use the result. I take no commissions from Microsoft or Anthropic. Any other relevant commercial relationship is disclosed when it matters to a recommendation.

## Common questions

- **What does an engagement cost?** The 2-week AI Readiness Assessment is a fixed fee, the same price for everyone regardless of organization size. Implementation engagements after the assessment are scoped per workflow, with a fixed fee for each one rather than an open-ended retainer. I share pricing after a 15-minute compatibility call.
- **What happens after the assessment?** A readout session with your leadership team and a written deliverable covering the skills snapshot, workflow audit, tool shortlist, and 90-day roadmap. You're under no obligation to hire me for the implementation. If you do, each workflow is scoped as a separate fixed-fee build.
- **How are conflicts of interest handled?** Every engagement clears a documented conflicts check before I accept it, the same discipline law and accounting firms use. If a conflict exists, or if it would look like one, I decline the work or refer it to a colleague. Anything that could bear on my objectivity gets disclosed to you in writing before we scope. I take no vendor commissions or referral fees, so exactly one party pays for my tool recommendations: you. Full standard at [/about#independence](/about#independence).
